For work where fit and tactile feedback decide the job. Minimum 650 % elongation before ageing against 500 % for nitrile: latex follows the hand instead of resisting it, and across a long list of short procedures that is what clinicians notice.
Where a department has always worked in latex, this is the version that remains defensible. Powder-free throughout, with protein content controlled to ≤ 50 μg/g, the figure EN 455-3 concerns itself with. That limits the risk of Type I latex allergy without removing it.
Where a wearer is already sensitised, latex is not the answer and the accelerator-free nitrile glove is. Approved for food contact under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and the German LFGB, though not for acidic foodstuffs.
