Capabilities

Qualified where the requirements are hardest.

Eastwest Medico supplies personal protective equipment and infection prevention products to United Nations agencies, national health services, hospitals and humanitarian programmes. The capability that matters in that work is not price. It is holding specification, documentation and delivery together at the same time, under scrutiny, on a date that cannot move.

United Nations procurement

A long-term agreement under a United Nations procurement framework.

Eastwest Medico has signed a Long-Term Agreement for the supply of infection prevention products under a global procurement framework administered by a not-for-profit procurement service agent on behalf of a United Nations agency. The agreement was awarded under RFP/2024/54109, published on the United Nations Global Marketplace, covering Lot 1: Personal Protective Equipment.

The framework enables pooled procurement at competitive pricing, the model that has made it the largest global provider of quality-assured products of its kind to the public sector.

Scope
Lot 1: Personal Protective Equipment, a portfolio of 25 products spanning gloves, respiratory protection, protective apparel, eye protection and hygiene consumables.
Reach
National disease programmes, laboratories, public health programmes and healthcare institutions. The procurement agent delivers to over 120 countries, and the framework has served 165 countries since its establishment in 2001.
Governance
The framework is hosted by a United Nations agency, with a not-for-profit procurement service agent acting on its behalf.
What it required
Quality-assured product across multiple categories, complete documentation at current standard editions, and evidenced supply chain reliability against international health procurement standards.

"This is more than a commercial milestone. It is about contributing to reliable and affordable protection for healthcare workers, patients and public health programmes around the world. Quality, compliance, sourcing and documentation are not just technical requirements. They are what make it possible to deliver critical products into healthcare systems where trust and affordability matter."

Who we serve

Institutional buyers, in four groups.

Our customers buy at scale, under audit, against published specifications. Each group asks a different question first, and the answer has to be documentary rather than commercial.

United Nations agencies

Supply into UN-linked procurement frameworks, where supplier conduct, quality assurance and documentation are assessed as conditions of participation rather than as award criteria. Pooled procurement means one specification serving many countries, so consistency matters more than flexibility.

Examples
UN long-term agreements · UN Global Marketplace tenders
Governments and health regions

Framework agreements and EU tenders under public procurement rules, where a documentation gap excludes a bid rather than reducing its score. Multi-year terms require holding specification and supply through whatever happens in between.

Examples
Danish health regions · a four-year regional surgical glove framework · EU tender for over one million boxes
Hospitals and health services

Clinical-grade gloves and PPE with full traceability from ward to warehouse. Clinical users evaluate fit and tactility directly, which is a different and stricter test than a datasheet review.

Examples
The Danish public sector for examination gloves, and many hospitals for sterile surgical gloves
NGOs and humanitarian programmes

Rapid mobilisation where a crisis requires certified supply at once, and field logistics where the receiving site may have no loading dock. Certification cannot be relaxed because the deployment is urgent.

Examples
National TB programmes and outreach · field laboratories · 100 oxygen concentrators to Maersk in India during the COVID-19 surge
Danish healthcare

A national position, won on tender.

Examination gloves from Eastwest Medico are supplied across the Danish public sector, and sterile surgical gloves to many hospitals. Danish public healthcare procures regionally on published EU tenders, so this position was won contract by contract and is re-tested at every renewal.

Examination gloves
Supplied across the Danish public sector. Nitrile, biodegradable accelerator-free nitrile, long-cuff nitrile and latex, managed to AQL 1.5 under EN 455-1:2020+A2:2024.
Sterile surgical gloves
Supplied to many Danish public hospitals, at AQL 0.65, from the Sempermed® range produced in Austria. Eastwest Medico is the official Sempermed® distributor in Denmark.
How it is procured
Through the health regions on published EU tenders, assessed formally on documentation, quality and delivery capability. Every renewal is contested.
What it demonstrates
Not scale alone. A national position in a market of sophisticated public buyers means the documentation has withstood repeated formal evaluation.
How we qualify supply

Four stages, applied identically whether the order is one pallet or one million boxes. The reason to describe it publicly is that a buyer can check each stage against what we deliver.

01
Qualify

Manufacturers are assessed on quality management, delivery capability, environmental and employee-rights compliance, financial strength and reputation. Financial strength is not a formality: when a long-established manufacturer wound down in April 2026, continuity depended on an alternative already being qualified. Assessments are documented and re-reviewed annually.

02
Control

Our own quality team works at partner factories during production, because leaching time and cure temperature are line settings and a report describes them only after the batch exists. SGS and TÜV provide independent third-party pre-shipment inspection.

03
Certify

Full documentation travels with every product: declarations of conformity under MDR 2017/745 and Regulation (EU) 2016/425, accredited third-party test reports, and manufacturer ISO certificates. Standards are cited by edition, and we check currency separately from content.

04
Deliver

Sea and air logistics planned against the call-off schedule, quoted on any Incoterms® 2020 rule. For institutional deliveries we normally supply DAP, so the receiving hospital has one landed price and no customs exposure.
