Eastwest Medico wins EU tender for more than a million boxes of nitrile gloves – Eastwest Medico

Originally published March 2022. Retained as a record of the award, with context added in July 2026.

In March 2022, following the launch of our own glove brand Prosenso™, Eastwest Medico was awarded an EU tender for more than one million boxes of nitrile examination gloves. Deliveries ran from spring 2022 and completed in June 2022.

Why it mattered

The competing field consisted largely of substantially larger and longer-established European glove brands. Winning on a public EU tender against them is not primarily a question of price: a compliant bid requires the full documentation set, at the declared quality level, with delivery capacity evidenced for the whole volume and the whole timetable.

At more than a million boxes on a fixed schedule, the binding constraint is not manufacturing but the combination of manufacturing, documentation and logistics holding together simultaneously. That is the capability the award demonstrated, and it is the same capability that later supported our appointment to the Region Midtjylland framework agreement and to the Stop TB Partnership Global Drug Facility framework.

What was supplied

Prosenso™ nitrile examination gloves, still in our current product range:

Medical device Class I under MDR 2017/745, and Category III PPE under Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
EN 455 compliant, managed to AQL 1.5 for freedom from holes.
Independent pre-shipment inspection by SGS or TÜV on every production run.
Food-contact approved for short contact under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and BfR XXI category 3.

A note on quality at volume

A large single award concentrates risk in one place: every box carries the same documentation, so a documentation defect is not a partial problem. This is why our verification runs at the factory during production rather than on arrival, and why sampling follows the standard's own plan – general inspection level I, code letter L – rather than a lighter internal one. See what AQL actually guarantees for why that distinction matters.

Key takeaways

Awarded March 2022; more than one million boxes of nitrile examination gloves; delivered by June 2022.
Won against larger established European brands on documentation and delivery capability, not price alone.
Product supplied was Prosenso™ nitrile examination gloves at AQL 1.5 with third-party pre-shipment inspection.
