MedWatch covers our biodegradable nitrile glove launch
Danish healthcare publication MedWatch reported on the launch in June 2022, putting Scandinavian market potential at DKK 100–200 million.

On 29 June 2022 the Danish healthcare business publication MedWatch covered our launch of biodegradable nitrile examination gloves, in an article by Andreas Lønstrup. The piece reported that Eastwest Medico was targeting market share with a biodegradable nitrile glove meeting full quality and certification requirements, and put the Scandinavian market potential at DKK 100–200 million.

Why the coverage mattered
Independent trade press scrutiny is a different kind of evidence from a supplier's own announcement. MedWatch's readership is the Danish healthcare industry, and the question its coverage put to us was the right one: previous biodegradable glove initiatives had failed on quality, so what made this one different.
The answer then and now is the certification set. The glove holds medical device Class I status under MDR 2017/745 and Category III PPE certification, complies with EN 455 and EN ISO 374, and carries the same five-year declared shelf life as our conventional nitrile. Biodegradability was added without relaxing any of it. Current verified data: ASTM D5511, 43.0 % biodegradation at 513 days, and accelerator-free by formulation with ISO 10993-10 biocompatibility passed.

On leadership. The 2022 article quotes Michael Kastrupsen as CEO of Eastwest Medico, which was correct at the time. The company's CEO is now Niels Kristian Bitsch. Quotes in the original coverage should be read as of June 2022.

The market potential MedWatch described has substantially materialised: biodegradable and accelerator-free formulations are now routine requirements in Scandinavian public tenders rather than differentiators.
