Fake CE certificates for PPE
Archived record. A note from July 2020, recording the falsified PPE certification seen during the COVID-19 procurement surge. The underlying problem has not gone away: for what to check on a current certificate, see MDR 2017/745 and medical gloves. Kept as a dated record.
European media has been reporting about numerous cases of PPE products with fake or none-valid certification. This is still a big problem since many of the Chinese manufacturers actually purchase CE certificates from notified bodies in the EU in good faith. (And some don’t of course.) The European Safety Organisation has published a comprehensive list of the most common “fake” certificates. We strongly urge anybody who is importing to check this list out before buying.
